Environment |
We are commited to running Stone Pine Distillery in a sustainable manner, with minimal environmental impact from orchard to bottle. Measures to ensure this include: Water Management Rain water is harvested, used to condense the spirit off the still, then collected once more for washing the distillery. The resultant waste water is then treated passively and used to irrigate the orchard. Small Carbon Footprint The distillery shed is of solar passive design and well insulated, thus avoiding extremes of temperature and preventing the need for heating or cooling. The still is highly efficient, with the capability of producing high purity spirits in a single distillation. A grid-connected, photovoltaic solar system contributes to the modest power requirements of the distillery. High efficiency lighting is used throughout the distillery. Raw Materials The orchard is managed under organic principles, supplemented by other high quality fruit, sourced locally wherever possible. |
